Prior to leaving Mossman, Anelle and I booked a hotel room in Perth using reward points. It wasn't until we arrived at the hotel front desk that we realized we had made the booking for November and NOT October when we arrived. They wouldn't refund us or switch the dates. It was one of those moments during travel that really tests your calmness.
Anyhow, we got some great sleep that night and in the morning we went to pick up our car rental to head out to Margaret River region. This area is famous for it's wine and coast and came highly recommended by almost everyone that knew we were going to Perth. Just outside of Perth is a GREAT town called Fremantle (Freo). We met a longtime friend of Anelle's Fre. She was an exhchange student from the Netherlands that stayed with Anelle's cousin Adrianna for almost a year. We met up with Frey at the Little Creatures Brewery for lunch and then walked around Freo looking for coffee.
Thank goodness we still had our sweats, a jumper and body warmth! After surviving cold, very windy and at times rainy nights we headed out to explore the surrounding areas. On day one, we got heaps of great information from the visitors centre in Margaret River. From there, we made our way to a few tastings in the area. We had some beers at Colonial Brewing Co and Cowaramup Brewing Company, lunch and wine at Brookwood Estate, cheese at Margaret River Dairy Company, jerky and sausage tasting at Margaret River Venison, and finished with some sweet wines at Woody Nook Wines. All of these places had beautiful grounds.
