Our first weekend back from Melbourne, Anelle and I just wanted to rest. It took us a few days into the week to catch up on sleep and feel normal after a weekend of fun in Melbourne. I think we would both agree that the Monday after Melbourne was a bit rough. Anyways, by the time Thursday rolled around, we made our plans for the weekend. Friday we checked out the Adelaide United vs Brisbane Roar soccer game at the Oval, which is the main stadium in Adelaide that holds big sporting events. Events like the Cricket World Cup were held there just a couple months ago...some in this world would say that is big event but I'm not one of them. HA! The Oval is a great stadium and can hold up to 54,500 people.
It's about a five to ten minute walk from our apartment. This was our first visit to the Oval so we were pretty excited. As soon as we walked in and before we got to our seats, Adelaide United scored off a great free kick.
We scored excellent seats only a few rows up from the field. We sat there for the first half and then met up with my manager in the grass area. We would spend the rest of the game here chatting with my manager, Benn and a couple of his mates. The game ended with Adelaide United scoring the game winner in the 88th minute and the crowd tossing whatever beer they had in their cups up in the air in excitement. It was a good night filled with laughs and i was lucky enough to walk away with an Adelaide United Scarf that Benn bought me.
Saturday we had a great dinner with Laura and Dylan. Anelle made some salsa, I packed the tequila (I know. We make a great team huh?!) and we made our way to Dylan and Laura's home for tamales!! Yup, we were very excited. Laura and Dylan worked on the tamales until 2am the previous day preparing them. I told Dylan that he messed up not utilizing two other Mexicans (Anelle and I) to help. All good though because they delivered some gooood tamales! We played Loteria, enjoyed some coronas and basically relaxed. As always, we had a great time catching up, telling stories and laughing our asses off. It has been great to make friends with such a cool couple and be able to have nights like this. We all get on very well. Check out the photos below that I took using my Hipstamatic app on my iPhone.
So that pretty much catches you guys up. Anelle and I have notified the owners of our apartment that we will not be renewing our lease and will be leaving at the end of June. At this moment we are unsure if we will be making a move to Melbourne or simply starting our travels. We hope to have this figured out before the end of the month that way we have the month of June to prepare for whatever the next step will be. Either way, we will keep you guys updated.
